WHO AM I
Where to start. My name is Roz. I'm 30-something. I'm disabled. I am a Brownie and Guide Leader and I volunteer one afternoon a week at my local archives. I'm a distant-learning student with the University of Leicester.
My lovely health issues always seem to ensure they try and play up when i have plans to do things. So, most of the time, it's mind over matter.
I have CRPS/RSD (Complex Regional Pain SyndromIe/Regional Sympathetic Dystrophy). CRPS is classed as the most painful condition in the world. I see myself as lucky - I only have it in my right hand and forearm, but it can and does spread.
I also have scholiosis. I have been suffering from lower back pain for a long time now, and my pain consultant ordered an x-ray thinking it was wear-and-tear.
The x-ray results came back - a bit of wear-and tear, but above it was a curve! I was then referred to a spinal specialist, and following an MRI, calculated the degree of my curve is between 36 and 39 degrees.
The spinal specialist reckon i've always had a curve, it's something i've grown up with. Wr agreed surgery wasn't an option. So, at the moment I manage it with physio and pain killers.
And, finally, depression. What can I say, but it's a horrible roller coaster that i can't get off of.
In my spare time I enjoy geocaching, reading, and crafts
